Dr. Spurgin has been successfully treating patients with acute to chronic pain for over 40 years. Every patient is unique and so is his or her need for treatment. The personal touch is what he learned, taught and continues to practice.
His practice is on the campus of the Desert Health Care District which also houses the Desert Regional Medical Center. He is a second generation Doctor of Chiropractic
He started practice with his father in Terre Haute, Indiana and practiced with him for almost nine years. His son is also a Doctor of Chiropractic in Indio, California. He son also has his PHD in Health Science.
He first became interested in Chiropractic with a very traumatic accident at age ten when He fell from a horse on my head. He later as a teenager was impressed with the love, respect and appreciation that His father's patients showed toward his father. When he went in practice with his father he was the given the benefit of the same love, respect and appreciation from his patients. He clearly loves treating people and seeing them getting better. Every day He seems look forward to coming to the office and having patients tell him how much better they are and how grateful they are to be doing better. With new patients he is look forward to their next visit and how they are doing.
In December 1979 after nine years of practice with his father he was recruited by the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic (now known as the Southern California University of Health Sciences) and spent almost ten years as faculty and then as their Dean of Chiropractic and Clinical Studies. He chaired committees that developed competency, standards of care, programs for clinical training and programs for faculty development. While at the Chiropractic College, He was honored to provide services as an expert to the California Board of Chiropractic Examiners, the State Attorney General's office, various Prosecuting Attorneys in municipalities throughout Southern California on Chiropracti
